I've wanted to photograph Bobolink for many years but never seem to get around to making it happen. At the end of one of my shorebird workshops this season one of the students mentioned he had a great spot for them this year. I got to talking to him and we set up a time to meet up and check out his location. He was right on and the birds did not disappoint. We had a gorgeous morning with perfect soft light for the dark males. The field was beautiful as well with lovely purple Thistle and Milkweed flowers all over to add a splash of color to the scene. I had a great time photographing some scenic compositions as well as a few closer photos. They are such an odd and unique bird with a very strange call. Scroll to the end to watch a short video of a male singing.
