Hovering Tern

A couple of times the Least Terns would come flying in and start hovering in this same general area. Once I realized that I started concentrating on them just before they landed. I really wanted to capture their wings in a position like this. I could see it happening with my eyes and figured it might look really nice in a photo. The problem was the background and light direction were not ideal. Thankfully the light was soft enough so I just went for an almost white sky background. There was just a bit of soft color back there from the setting sun in the clouds and I'm realy happy with the result of this.

Nature photography has become a very passionate hobby of mine and whenever I get a chance I love to get outside and enjoy being outdoors. I am also the co-owner of KGM Expressions, a wedding and portrait photography business, with my wife Kim. This is how we make our living and I love that we get to do that together.
