Dawn Herring Gull

I don't often photograph gulls but when this Herring Gull landed on the wide open beach in all the green plants and grass I couldn't resist. The sky was a pastell pink as it was just a bit before sunrise and all those tones made for what I thought was a really pretty scene. There wasn't much more to it than what I just described, I walked up on the gull, dropped to the ground, took the shot, and moved on in search of more "exciting" birds.

Nature photography has become a very passionate hobby of mine and whenever I get a chance I love to get outside and enjoy being outdoors. I am also the co-owner of KGM Expressions, a wedding and portrait photography business, with my wife Kim. This is how we make our living and I love that we get to do that together.
