Loggerhead Shrikes are so badass! They look so agressive from any angle with their dark black masks and sharply hooked bill. When I saw this image on the computer and I caught it head on it really exaggerated that badass look I thought. It was incredible that the shrike was able to perch on this tiny stick, especially since it was blowing all over on the windy day. A had a client with me and we were just wrapping up our workshop morning and what a better way to do that than with this great bird on a natural perch, glowing in the morning sun. The tall brown grasses in the background created a lovely subtle texture as well, it all came together nicely.
