Resting Black-bellied Plover

I still have a lot of images to share from the outings I did to this location last year. It's one of my favorites spots to spend a day with shorebirds, as you can see the scenery is incredibly beautiful with wide open spaces, shallow water and marsh grasses. I slowly worked my way up to this Black-bellied Plover as it rested next to the tall grasses. I specifically stayed far enough away to include the grasses in the frame which I thought fit nicely next to this striking black and white shorebird. It's also really neat to see this species in the late summer like this because in the same flock of birds you will see some almost entirely in winter plumage as well as birds like this still sporting their summer colors. I always find it interesting to see the variety of plumages together. I'l be running some workshops at this location for these and many other shorebirds this coming summer. Stay tuned to the website to see when they are anounced, they will probably book up quickly!

Nature photography has become a very passionate hobby of mine and whenever I get a chance I love to get outside and enjoy being outdoors.
