Prairie Portrait

It's funny how things change after you have seen and photographed a certain species so many times. The first time I got a good photo of a Prairie Warbler I was so thrilled. I've now photographed them so many times it's hard to get nearly as excited when I see and photograph them. I do still however think they are such a gorgeous bird and their buzzy song is always a joy to hear. I got to watch this bird feeding in the low brush quite a bit and it was very successful at capturing all types of insects. Every so often it would work its way to the top of the brush and sing a really soft song. It was different to hear one singing so softly, I could barely hear it while in front of me even when it was rearlly close. I loved the perch this one chose with the twisty vine and fresh spring leaves. This time of year is often so pretty for photography.

Nature photography has become a very passionate hobby of mine and whenever I get a chance I love to get outside and enjoy being outdoors. I am also the co-owner of KGM Expressions, a wedding and portrait photography business, with my wife Kim. This is how we make our living and I love that we get to do that together.
