Blue-winged Warbler

This is a species that I photographed a lot last year but struggled to get good photos of this year. I didn't see them as much as previous years and in the one place I always see them they weren't as prevelant. In any case it was nice to finally find some that were cooperative. This one gave me the exact kind of shot that I always like. The bird is pretty small in the frame but stands out against a clean background and I really like how it paused in just the right opening in the bright green leaves. They rarely do that so when it does happen I'm always really thankful for it. I also liked that you can see the small insect on one of the upper leaves.

Nature photography has become a very passionate hobby of mine and whenever I get a chance I love to get outside and enjoy being outdoors. I am also the co-owner of KGM Expressions, a wedding and portrait photography business, with my wife Kim. This is how we make our living and I love that we get to do that together.
