In early February I ran a workshop to photograph the Florida Burrowing Owl. The workshop was in the evening and I spent the morning and most of the day scouting for locations to photograph these fun little owls. While they can easily be found at many popular locations around Cape Coral, Florida I didn’t want to take my group to the same old spots and get the same old shots that everyone else in the area does. I sought out locations that were much more out of the way and as a result a bit more of a natural habitat for the species. Not the manicured and irrigated green lawns of the local baseball park or library. I found exactly what I was looking for and we all had a great time hanging out with these curious and wonderful little owls. Here are some of my favorites from the morning as well as a stop along the coastline where I found a Little Blue Heron hunting right next to me and a Snowy Egret.
