Louisiana Waterthrush - A Day Outing

Photographed on April 12, 2019

With an upcoming workshop for this species I had to find exactly where to photograph them. A couple days prior to this outing I was out walking for miles to find a couple of good locations where I could see and photograph these unique warblers in their river habitat. I found two different locations about 5 minutes walk apart and then revisited both locations on this morning to make sure they were still there and it wasn’t just dumb luck when I found them. As I had hoped I found them both at the same spots as a few days before and I spent a few hours working with them. They gave me some incredible opportunities for photos that I thought I would have no chance of topping. From extreme closeups to distant scenic photos that really showed off the great habitat, I was so pleased with what I captured on this outing. Here are some of my favorites.

Nature photography has become a very passionate hobby of mine and whenever I get a chance I love to get outside and enjoy being outdoors. I am also the co-owner of KGM Expressions, a wedding and portrait photography business, with my wife Kim. This is how we make our living and I love that we get to do that together.
