I met up with a friend to try for some local American Redstarts I had found and we had some solid luck. My last encounter with a Cherry Blossom tree was with a Blue-gray Gnatcatcher and I was very happy with the results. I was really hoping to get some more variety of birds in those trees so when my friend and I stopped at a local park to see what was around, I was pleasantly surprised to see a Cherry Blossom tree in full bloom. I knew this area was prime for Northern Parula and it wasn’t long before we were photographing this gorgeous species in the tree with the pink flowers. We moved on and found a Yellow-throated Warbler in a lovely lichen covered tree but not much else. On the way out we stopped at the Cherry Blossom tree again and got lucky when a Yellow-throated Warbler dropped in for a few photos. It’s striking plumage standing out against the soft pink colors.
