I spent another day searching northern New Jersey for spring warblers. This was my third visit to the area and after my first amazing outing I didn’t think I could top it. Well I was wrong! I was joined on this rainy morning by the incredible Sean Graesser. The forecast was not for rain but that’s what we had for the first few hours, which was fine and let us get some really cool photos of a Hooded Warbler in a gorgeous and lush rainy scene. We then slowly made our way to the Blackburnian Warbler and this time around it did not disappoint. This time around we spent over 3 hours with this incredible bird and got to see its female partner gathering nesting material and she gave me one great look for a portrait. From there we made our way back down to lower elevations and had an amazing session with a cooperative American Redstart and wrapped up the day with a Cerulean Warbler. There were many other species mixed in on the day but the star of the show by far was the Blackburnian Warbler. These are some of my favorites from that one awesome day.
