Photographing butterflies, bees, other insects and flowers is an easy and creative way to spend the afternoon. This location has a wide variety of flowers planted specifically to attract nectar feeding insects. The setup is great as well because we can work any angle with the flowers and butterflies get a wide variety of background options.


  • Lots of variety of butterflies, moths, bees and other nectar feeding insects

  • Lots of variety of colorful flowers to photograph

  • It will likely be hot and we will be in a mostly open area so if it’s sunny please wear sun protection


  • Dedicated macro lenses or close focusing longer focal lengths are recommended

  • No tripod is necessary because the butterflies tend to move too quickly to set up a tripod shot


  • Professional tips and suggestions how to achieve unique and nice looking photos of butterflies, bees, insects and flowers.

  • A reflector to modify and soften the lighting conditions if it’s sunny

  • Suggestions for different lighting options as well as pleasing backgrounds

  • Answers to any questions regarding bird photography or camera settings
